Hi I want to insert 3-4 lines paragraph from other websites, blogs, and online magazines into my hubs, can I do that? provided I shall also insert hyperlink that refers to that site or blog or e-magazine whichever. I know it is legal in other websites and is also acceptable standard policy of adsense program but what I don't know is that whether hubpages allow this?

Copying content from other sites is not a good idea, and can result in your Hub being unpublished for duplicated content. If you must quote, it should be as minimal as possible and with full citations.

You can quote from where you like - up to about 100 words at a rough guess - as long as the bulk of the hub is your own and as long as you acknolwledge the quote (where it comes from) and put in a link.

Hi waleeds - I have to agree with Relache. It is best to play it safe. Any quoting should be kept to a minimum and fully cited.
CJStone - a 100 word quote sounds a bit long to me. If we consider a 400 word hub, 100 words would be 25%. Otherwise, I agree with you. :)

Yes you most certainly CAN quote other sources with your text - but you should cite the source....er...cause I said so!
Listen, here's the real deal: If you have too much text that you've quoted from other sites on your hub....it'll set off the "duplicate content" filter alarms, and every time that happens...Simone Smith drowns a puppy.
Don't make Simone drown puppies no more. Please?
