Snoring is very annoying for light sleepers, and I am one. I would try suggesting the BreatheRight strips for the roommate and earplugs for myself. Next, I would try pitching rolls of TP. If I couldn't deal with it still, I would ask for a new mate or a private room.
Seriously, snoring can be very dangerous and causes many couples to sleep apart.

If that were the only problem I had with the roommate I'd live with it - unhappily at night, obviously, but I'd live with it. As long as we share living space with someone, there's always going to be a good chance he'll do something that bothers us. The way I see it, if we're so bothered by stuff other people do (even if it's fair and reasonable that anyone would be bothered by some things), the answer is to live alone. (Of course, I'm someone who doesn't try to sleep until I'm ready to "pass out" - so nothing ever keeps me awake. Maybe that's the answer for anyone who has a snoring roommate too. :/ )
I think one reason people are kept awake by snorers (and I've lived with one or two) is that they spend their time thinking about how much the snoring is bothering them, or else just worrying about the snoring in general. There's something to be said for deciding not to think about, tuning it out, and letting it be "background noise" until the non-snorer DOES fall asleep and no longer hears it. A whole lot of whatever bothers us is often made worse by our thinking about how much we're bothered by whatever it is.

Sometimes the loud snoring can be an indication of a serious medical condition. If you hear the person stop breathing occasionally during the loud snoring, it can be an indication of "sleep apnea" which a doctor can diagnosis and there are treatments for it.

Get another room mate. I can't stand snoring - I know it's a natural thing that people can't help but i would have to find someone else.

Snoring is really a very bad situation for those who are light sleepers! Now, as for my roommate I would suggest her some renound doctors name to give a visit and overcome from this situation or some nasal strips to ease her from the snorring sounds!! and for myself I am adjustable to any kind of situation and put cotton balls in my ears!

I would buy them some nasal strips and set them somewhere they could find them easily, right next to a tape recording of them snoring the night before. It would have a little sticky note on it that read, play me. Im sure they would catch on. My husband does not snore often, but when he does, he snores so loud he wakes himself up..It is hillarious more than anything and I get a good laugh out of it. Thank goodness I am usually not trying to sleep during those times.

I will put a cotton plug into my ears or leave that room.

couple of socks is all you need, shove it down his throat :)
I'm just kidding. There's nothing really you can do, except maybe earplugs.

My current roommate snores every single night. I usually try to go to sleep earlier so I do not have to hear the snoring. If he happens to fall asleep before me I suggest sleeping with ear buds in. I like listening to quiet music like Elliott Smith while I fall to sleep.
