Loading... How do you go about pricing your crafts?

I charge for a craft by how long (hours) it takes me to make it and by the cost of the materials I made it with. My charge is usually low around $3.00 hour. I find if I charge more it may not sell. Sometimes It does feel like it's not enough if it is something difficult to craft..

I charge by what it's worth to the consumer, and by what other similar pieces are selling for.

@myawn-Would you work for $3.00 hr in the work world. Then why would you only charge that to do your crafts. You are worth at least minimum wage!

I myself charge $20.00 an hour for my sewing projects. That is the going rate for a seamstress in my area. Some charge more.

I do Victorian clothing reproductions, and I get the money I ask for, or I don't sell it. I am not selling myself short...otherwise, I am not really making any money.

I also go by how much everything costs and how long it takes to make. Sometimes I do feel like I don't charge enough but if I didn't sell it at all then I would be losing money, so I am Lenient when it comes to pricing my crafts.

I take into consideration how much time i put into it, the materials i used, then i try to gauge it against other similar stuff i see for sale. Sometimes i charge more, sometimes less than other things but i think there are a lot of factors that go into pricing.
