Here are three tips:

1. Write about what you know about. Having a good command of your topic is essential.

2. Write to someone you know. Not that you will know everyone personally but imagine or have someone as reference in your mind when wiriting and write to that person using a simple conversational writing style--just like writing a letter.

3. Write truthfully. No lies, wrong information, incomplete information, etc.

Hope this helps.

Always write about what you're most passionate about. Research it thoroughly, and enjoy it. Wash your hands after. ;-)

It depends. If you are writing non-fiction, then select a topic you know about or are interested in knowing about. That way you either feed off your knowledge, or fuel your curiosity. The reader will respond.

If you are writing fiction, wait for a small voice in your ear that whispers..."what if?" My fiction springs from something I see, or hear or even smell. Keep your five senses on alert.
