there is many reputable medical website that you can get trusted medical advice from like medlineplus and webmd and also trusted medical forums like medhelp.org but this for will not substitute for your family physician who can examine you properly and advice for invistigations if needed.

I would trust only governmental websites that publicize different researches. And may be forums where people share their experiences. If you see 30 people had the same experience and treated successfully in a way there is a probability that this is a working method.

For example I treated my stomach ulcer with antibiotics based on information from Internet. But I researched like a month or more and my first attempt was not successful.

The helicobacter in my stomach probably had resistance to the first set of antibiotics I've taken.

I was also consulting with a friend of mine that was treating the same problem in Australia. So I was comparing what I found to what he was doing.

It depends upon seriousness of your complaint. If you are not satisfied with online medical tips, it is better to see your family doctor.

I would say that there are overflooding unfounded online exchange of information, regardless of medicinial source or others. You need to do tons of research, before you jump up to a conclusion by resting on a single source. Since the exchange of information has become so easy to get, and anyone can publicize their ideology, regardless of its validity and accountability. You really need to be extreme cautious, before you absord any potential biased, far-fetched information. Always evaluate the validity of the information, in terms of the knowledge you already have.
