The toaster likely not. If the coffee maker has a timer then yes. Anything in your home that has a timer to turn it on or a remote control is always "on."

An alternative to unplugging your appliance would be to connect them to a power strip with it's own on/off switch. That way when you aren't using them you can shut them all off.

Yes it does. Also...anything that has a light on it when it's off...ie: stereos, some electronics...

A good rule of thumb is if it still tells time or has a light on when you have it turned off or are not using it...unplug it!

yes i think it does.If you are not using it keep it off and I believe you will notice the difference in your bill.

That depends upon whether a particular appliance draws power or not when supposedly off. If it is "instant on" or has a time display on all the time, or a "ready light" on all the time, then it draws power all the time.

So unplugging those would reduce electrical consumption.

And, so effing what? That power is insignificant.

Yes, over millions of people, that adds up. But, me, since I have not contributed to the population explosion and resource depletion, I say screw it. I'm not going to inconvenience myself. Let the breeders that have and are causing the problems conserve.
