In the Taoist text, Tao Te Ching, written by Lao Tzu?

In the Taoist text, Tao Te Ching, written by Lao Tzu there is no mention of a need to believe in a god. The text is instead a guide for individuals to find the path or "the way" to enlightenment Do you believe it's true or false

If you follow "the way", you are one with God.

It has been said that God is the way, the truth, & the underlying principles of all things.

The need to believe into something isn't the the main subject of Tao, you as a person is a fragment of Tao. Tao is there already from the very beginning of all consciousness.

The questioning mind which decipher as to which is true & which false is another layer of illusion of the mind.

If you achieve enlightenment, even a single word expressed here is too much already, for an awaken soul is free from illusion of the mind.

I certainly do believe that no matter whether you believe in God or not that it is necessary to be enlightened to the Middle Way. This is the only way for people to find peace with each other and the world around them. It is wisdom. One needs to understand the difference between religion and The Way.

The Way is the absence of desire. It's pure contentment.

True. The Tao Te Ching does not mention God. Taoism traditionally does include gods (plural), but their worship is not the essence of the WAY of Tao.

The Tao Te Ching ( http://www.squidoo.com/Tao-Te-Ching-101 ) is a text, that to the extent that it is understood, has been very popular because it addresses basic issues about life. God isn't really relevant to issues of how to deal with power, become happy or any of that. Or at least, in the Tao Te Ching God does not play a part while it tries to deal with those questions.
