Who doesnt want to feel secure in knowing they can trust their child to be responsible when concerning money. this discipline comes with the territory of being a good parent. all parents need to concentrate on the essentials that groom and prepare your child for life as well as the society you live in. money plays a big factor so why not educate your child.........ciao

Definitely! I believe parents need to train their children how to properly use the money at the early age. Children shall be trained to know the value of money. And what money can do.

I have been giving my son, almost five, pocket money for about four months now when he does little jobs to help around the house. On Saturdays, he gets to spend it and I explain what he can afford and what's too expensive. He already understands that to buy something more expensive means saving his money - that he's earned - for another week or so.

I think once they get to 10 or so you should start teaching them, and slowly get them into it. But eventually they will learn. Give them a limited amount. Kids (4-8) deserve to not worry about things like that. If you give kids a certain amount of money they will eventually learn.

Yes! My son is almost 5 years old and he already earns pocket money for helping me out! There is no reason why children shouldn't learn how to handle money! You can't live without it. :)

I do believe that not only should young children be taught how to handle money, but to handle money responsibly. Meaning, I believe that it is more than just "Johnny, you helped mom and dad out with the dishes, cleaning up the living room, the laundry, and picking up your toys, so here is your allowance for the week."

Personally, I think it is about the responsibility of money. One way that I found interesting is that one family actually uses the monopoly money to help instill not only the appropriate use of money, but to provide an ongoing education of what it means to save, to be able to provide for oneself, and the ability to build good work ethics and financial stability that will become a harvest in their adult life.

I think it is a tragedy for any family to give into their children's demands of wants and those children have no concept of good work ethics, or financial understanding of what it means to have and not have.
