Are there any places similar to Hub Pages [for writers] for artists?

I would recommend checking out:
http://www.saatchi-gallery.co.uk/yourgallery/
I think they have better quality work posted than most other sites. And, they have various contests throughout the year. If you're looking to sell work in a community online, I'd recommend:
Zazzle (which is very time consuming to put a page together)
Cafe Press (Pretty much the same as Zazzle, but has a longer history)
Etsy - This is a really cute place for cheaper hand made stuff. They did have original paintings, however prints were selling better. There's a lot of cool things on this site that may be cheaper, but I noticed artists selling more in bulk. This seems to be the breadwinning site. They also have community forums.
Good luck. Whatever you do - it takes time to build the site and to drum up conversations.

Sorry it took so long to answer your question!
The sites I am personally aware of for writers that are similar to Hub Pages are www.bukisa.com, www.associatedcontent.com, www.squidoo.com, www.triond.com, and www.helium.com.
Associated content takes art and photography I think. There is also a site--www.deviantart.com--that's pretty cool and is more art-focused. Of course there's flickr.com, which is mostly photography but I see lots of people posting their artwork there too. I know there are others, I promise as soon as things calm down to a dull roar around here I will write a hub on it.
In the meantime, robert sloan here at Hub Pages probably know of more. He's an artist who shares his art and teaches online.

I recently discovered 'The Red Room' http://www.redroom.com/ It is a serious writers site and you have to be accepted once you apply and write a small blurb about yourself. It was reccomened to me by a new author I know and he is really making a name for himself with his first book. There are other places as well, blogger, tumblr, newsvine, wordpress, but I think that Red Room is the place for those who are already published, working on publishing and for people who love to read. You will attract other professional writers and even have the opportunity to build a fan base. I still love HubPages, but if you are serious about the industry, Red Room is the place to be. Best of luck in your writing career. PJ Stuart

Squidoo is similar but it is for all topics not just artists. Is that what you meant?

deviantArt.com
ComicSpace.com
These are both community type places like HubPages for artists. I am a member of both at the moment, dA is my favorite. ;)
