What life options did an American woman (especially from New England) living during the 1890s have?
Job options. Legal rights. Living without a male. Anything and everything you can think of.

I may be wrong but in terms of "life options" an American woman had in the 1890's, I would say not many. I suppose a woman could become a nun or a house wife ... interesting question.
