HIV cannot survive for long outside of the body-it will live in bodily fluids, but if they are dried or cleaned with proper precautions it will not be transmitted.
Also the cure mentioned here is true, and a fascinating case, however it is not a legitimate cure for the 33+ million people worldwide with no access to medical care that could provide them with the bone marrow necessary to cure them of the virus. Not to mention the tests necessary to facilitate bone marrow matches, or the sheer amount of bone marrow necessary to transplant into all of these people.
By and large the virus is still incurable, but preventable and treatable.
