Wordpress seems to be the new "favorite" for search engines. Blogger.com has a very classic feel with features that are respected among the blogging community, but Wordpress appears to be combating with their new sleek and fresh appearance.

Your own. Use free software like Wordpress (Wordpress.org) is always a great way to manage your blog. You have more flexibility with customization and management.

It also looks more "legit" if it has a unique URL.

I prefer Blogger than Wordpress because it has a simple platform that does not require so much programming skills somewhat more like a WYSIWYG (What you see is what you get).

Wordpress is great too! It enables its users to add helpful plugins but you know it would require some time to figure it out. So, you gotta ask yourself if you want to start right away, or you want to monetize from it, or what exactly do you want from your blog?

LiveJournal is also a favorite of many bloggers.

Word Press is definatly a good one, and I agree that having your own domain for your blog is best.

If you have a good host for your domain, they will have a simple install feature to install a blog onto your domain - making it simple for you.

well...i have only been with blogger for now and i haven't tried many of them....and not even wordpress. but in my experience, blogger is a pretty good bet. you can edit the basic html, the layout, you can even add different gadgets to your blog with just a single click. i liked blogger overall. just go ahead and give it a try. about wordpress, it has loads of features though, like more than 50 languages, spam killer, comment tracking, etc. just take a look at features of both n decide. but as per the features go, i would go with wordpress.

You have a lot more potential to build traffic with Word Press stand alone. However, you will need to know programming and HTML. Blogger is easy to use. However, not having your own domain name has many disadvantages. There isn't a platform that takes the best of both. I am working on a new blog platform that is easy to use and offers all the advantages of word press.
