Cut out all stimulants, especially after say noon. Have a beer or glass of wine just before bed. As far as waking up 10 minutes before your alarm, I think that is pretty normal, I always wake up about !/2 hour before mine. I guess I can add a link, here is a page I wrote on this subject http://enaturesremedies.com/insomnia-cant-sleep-na

There are many things that can cause it one is have you had a sleep study done? You may find that you have sleep apnea. Another thing that may help is to listen to some soothing sounds like the ocean sounds or something that puts you in a relaxed sleep. I know that I always drink a little bit of milk with an aspirin at night and it puts me right out. The aspirin helps to calm your muscles and nerves. Another way is to tighten every muscle in your toes to your foot etc until you just finely drift off. These are things that I have experienced and have used.

you should give melatonin a try. I take it when I need a good sleep.
