A rock garden can be simple or complex.A simple rock garden can be made by placing rocks of different sizes,shapes and colors together in a random pattern.One good way to make a simple garden would be to have many small dark colored rocks forming a bed and then placing large light colored rocks as featured piece here and there on the bed.
A rock garden can be complex in design also.I have seen gardens done with rocks placed in a circle pattern.Large and small circles of rocks to form a bed and then rocks of different colors forming the borders.You could do diamond shapes or squares the same way.
Another way which would be more of a design would be to form animal shapes for the bed.
