What Is Waiting In The Afterlife?

The Other Day i Was Just Sitting In The Car And Suddenly Realized I Don't Know The Answer. What If There Is Nothing? I Kind Of Decided On Reincarnation Being The Most Plausible, But That Scares Me A Bit also. I Don't Want To Loose What i Do Have And Start All Over.

You will probably receive many varying answers to your question. Mine will be just one. It comes from my faith as a follower of Christ.

2 Corinthians 5:1

[ Our Heavenly Dwelling ] "Now we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands."

2 Peter 3:13

"But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, the home of righteousness."

John 5:24

"I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life."

Rev. 21:3-4

"Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away."

John 6:40

"For my Father's will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day."

As a believer in Christ when I leave here the next life will be one that is only good...no more pain or sorrow, no striving to work for things that can be lost, no more separation from those I love, no more destruction, no killing, no pollution, no death.

I get to share in all of the goodness of God--for eternity.

1 Corinthians 3:21-23

"So then, no more boasting about men! All things are yours, whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas or the world or life or death or the present or the future—all are yours, and you are of Christ, and Christ is of God."

John 14:1-4

"Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am."

I think you boiled it down to the essentials: it's the fear of losing everything that is most scary about death. This is why the Eastern religions (Buddhism, Hinduism, Taoism) teach detachment as the most important spiritual practice.

I personally believe in karma and reincarnation as well. See for instance: http://hubpages.com/hub/karma-reincarnation-facts

The only thing you get to keep with you is what you've learned, your habits, your aspirations - that sort of thing. But before you get to face your karma again in a next life, theosophy says there is an in between existence. Blavatsky called it devachan. Devachan is a spiritual state of being in which the best of you: your highest hopes and dreams, your love for people etc. will be fully felt.
