I've been there and seen the proof that the women in the US Army make great Warriors and can do the Job, God Bless the Blonde behind the M2 .50 Cal that saved my butt on a convoy in Baghdad!!

I have seen husbands and wifes go to war leaving their children behind. And I ask myself, why?

Wrong choice of words- "when we still have men alive"?

Having women on the battlefield is not traditional because they are the ones that are traditionally seen as the gender that passes down civilization from generation to generation

Of course. Women joined the military, I assume expecting to go to combat. Why should they be denied, especially after they have endured the same training as men.

If women are ready to participate in military combat then there is no problem.

The Russians have had women in their military for quite a long time, the actual number of years escapes me, with noticeable results. The gentleman in me says it should not have to happen, but the practical person in me says: if it moves you to put yourself in harm's way for a greater purpose, bless you for your courage.

Simply, yes. If they chose to. Because serving in the military isn't based on gender I don't see why overall combat deployment should. However, noting the differences in males vs females in differing applications of the sexes can be entertained. For instance a male and female of equal size will differ on many physical attributes, if you view that as sexist... well you are not too bright and should read a book. So for example women have been shown to be more accurate, so I'd trust them more with a gun emplacement or as a sniper than I would a male, But a grunt on the ground running head long into enemy fire to smash his enemies skull in with a rifle butt, just cause it'd make a cool story... well, that is the territory of us males. A male hominid is on average three times more "muscularly" stronger than a female of comparable size and weight, and I don't think the ladies envy us one bit. I wouldn't.

I know plenty of women that could kick my ass, and not just because I'm too chivalrous to fight back either (not that I'd ever admit it to them).

personally I have no problems with women being in combat roles. there are women like some men that should just be REMFs but thats nothing to do with their gender, just their mindsets.

HmrJmr glad she was there for ya. I have to add an opposite story.. One deployment, we had a petite little red head thrown in with my fire team. as we are loading up the A bags to head to a C-5 I hear her telling another woman.. " who was aces " how she just loved BDU's becuase they highlighted her hair and allowed her to wear a nail polish shade she just loved.

she might have been fluff.. but she was tough fluff LOL

My Dear Sweet Friends,

Why shouldest any go into combat at all? Combat for what, to kill someone?

Close the borders, collect all the guns, open all the prisons freeing all prisoners with qualifications, and make all things free equally unto all the populace. Then watch as the world comest unto the United States trying to figure out how we established the Kingdom of heaven in our land.
