Is it necessary to be able to draw to be a tattoo artist?

I would love to be a tattoo artist but my artistic skills are not actually very good, but i am sure I could trace well and colour well with practice.

All you have to do is practise a lot. A lot of my frineds are tattoo artists and they have never taken courses when they were younger, they only practiced a lot and with time they got really good at it. I think that if you set your mind to it, you will be able to acheive what you want to do :)

from my experiance i would say yes, but even if you only have the basic skills it is possible.

but the only tattoos you will be able to do is things on the wall that you trace for a stencil. and then you will still have to get your own style of shading and try to make it as unique as possible so just like julia says practice practice practice!

my boyfriend never took a course either and he does amazing work. it is all about willing to do the hard work to be the best you can. hope i helped even if only a little.
