What is the difference between DVD-5, DVD-10, DVD-9 and DVD-18?

DVD-5 format can make normal 4.7 GB size of DVD, DVD-10 format can make double layered 8.75 GB size of DVD. Both of these support re-writing. But, format DVD-9 would only make one time recordable DVD of size 8.5 GB and DVD-18 would only make one time recordable DVD of size 15.9 GB. There are lot of other formats also.
