cardio is the best way to lose belly fat, you can do all the sit ups you want but all it does is build muscle in your stomach that will not show because it is still covered with fat. you also have to eat, eating 5 to 6 times a day in small amounts will get your metabolism going, eat less carbs and more lean meats and fish, protein will rebuild your muscle tissues thus allowing your body to burn more calories=)

the best way to lose stomach fat is to reduce body fat all over. try adding intervals into your cardio sessions and really push it for the sprint portion of your interval, recover, and repeat. don't slack on strength training because it is one of the best ways to burn major calories when you work both large muscle groups and small ones at the same time. think squats with shoulder presses, forward lunges with bicep curls, etc. eating a well-balanced minimally processed diet is a great way to feed those hard working muscles! hope this helps :)

I think the first thing you need to do is check your motivation - the very first thing. You got that stomach fat - how did that happen and what has changed in your mind that will stop that continuing to happen?
Only once you know that you really want this, and are prepared for the cost (hard work, less comfort food, less alcohol) will you have a chance of succeeding.
I also think you should forget the "fast" bit. Make it a lifestyle change. Make it permanent. Make it for life. Fast dieting and crash exercise programs will only cause a temporary blip and could harm you.

I've done extensive research on the topic (as you would see from my huge amount of abs hubs) and I can tell you this:
Both "lowerabworkout" and "Juliagr"'s comments are spot on.
Other things you might want to consider are:
Do not limit your carb intake, this will make you cranky, hungry and craving sweets come 10:30. Just stick to wholegrain carbs, baby potatoes and brown rice and watch your portion sizes.
Don't overdo your cardio exercises - too much cardio can start to burn away your muscles and you need them to burn fat.
The trick is to do interval training (like Juliarg) said.
And then you have to eat food that encourages muscle building and fat burning.
And try to make your diet as healthy as possible - include lots of fruits and vegetables and prepare your food with a healthy method.

A last thing to remember is to be patient - it will take at least one month to see a difference. But the longer it takes to lose the fat, the longer it will stay off - and isn't that the most important thing (together with your health) in the end?
