Kanye was drunk and Serena is just passionate about her sport. The over indulgent lifestyle of the entertainment world speaks for itself. Sports is different because of the competition factor. Anyone who has ever seriously engaged in sports will know what I'm talking about. Sometimes you can get so emotionally involved in winning you can lose control. I am, by no means condoning it, but these things happen to people who are passionate about what they do. It is easy to criticize when you have not experienced these explosions of emotions. What is important, here, is the realization of error and dealing with it accordingly. I believe Serena's apology and admission or error was genuine. Kanye actions were just silly and childlike.

I can't speak for Selena Williams (too much testosterone?) as I don't really follow sports but what I do know is that Kanye West has a history of opening his big gob at award ceremonies, usually to make the point that the industry is "racist."
His interruption of Tayler Swift's award receiving was interpreted by some as "racist" as he blew the trumpet of a black artist, Beyonce who in his opinion (which he inflicted on everyone else) the deserving winner.
In 2005 he accused George Bush of not caring "about black people" at the televised Hurricane Katrina concert.
In 2006, when his "Touch the Sky" failed to win Best Video at the MTV Europe Music Awards, West went onto the stage as the award was being presented to Justice and Simian for "We Are Your Friends" and stated quite seriously that he should have won the award instead. In 2007, West said that the choice of Britney Spear's to open that years MTV Video Music Awards was "Maybe my skin’s not right." That night he lost all 5 awards that he was nominated for, including Best Male Artist and Video of the Year. After the show, he was visibly upset that he had lost at the VMAs 2 years in a row, stating that he would not come back to MTV ever again. He sulked about this for ages afterwards.
His latest outburst, picking on a young girl has earmarked him asin the words of Barack Obama, the first black President of America to label him a "jackass." Which he is. He has no reason to be so racist. He was born into a comfortably off, middle-class black family and has enjoyed worldwide success. maybe he doesn't get awards because people are too frightened of his huge ego getting out of control.
On September 13, 2009, during the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards while Taylor Swift was accepting her award for Best Female Video, West went on stage and grabbed the microphone to proclaim that Beyoncé's video for "Single Ladies", nominated for the same award, was "one of the best videos of all time". He was subsequently removed from the remainder of the show for his actions.[94][95][96] When Beyoncé later won the award for Best Video of the Year for "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)", she called Swift up on stage so that she could finish her acceptance speech.[94] West was criticized by various celebrities for the outburst,[95][97][98][99][100] and by U.S. President Barack Obama, who pronounced West a "jackass" in an "off the
