There is a lot of information available regarding this, but as a general rule, when depression lasts two weeks or more, and/or affects one's ability to function it's time to get help.

I would say having suicidal thoughts is the indicator that it has become clinical. Being in denial and not confronting your fears would be another indicator. I have a few friends who suffer from depression but do not seek medical attention because they believe they are ok.

You can easily look this up online by doing a search on Google. There are a number of different indicators, including if you have suicidal thoughts, and if it effects your ability to function in your daily life. Hope this helps.

When the indiviual can no longer sustain positive inter action with family, freinds or people in general. I do not believe doctors or even most helth professionals can pin point when a person can truely be considered clinical only because people are diffrent and where others are strong some will be weak.
