Teaching children music should be a "total physical response" with hand / body actions, musical chairs, boy/ girl singing groups and a fun repetitive atmosphere.
I let the students see the words of the song, we talk it out first and they repeat, then we add more until they know the song* adding music as we go.
If it's musical intruments your teaching, let the students choose their own, they will have fun doing this! Who says banging an instrument isnt' fun for the first time, (always give positive feedback), cheers!
