Las Vegas from a hometown perspective, do the tourist annoy residents?

Sorry about the delay. I am attempting to create a hub page that works this question out, but find myself rambling on and on in a vaguely incoherent manner. I would definitely say yes. However, I do want to point out that I have worked in restaurants for the better part of 16 years. This does tend to make one a bit jaded.

One thing to keep in mind is that Vegas is worse than most cities. This is due mostly to the attitude of the type of person that comes here. I do understand that some people come here and are normal, but it doesn't help when the TV commercials encourage stupid behavior. You know... "What happens in Vegas..."

I do not know many people outside the service industry so my point of view is one-dimensional. I would just want people who do come here to try something. Try to think before you act. It is an idiotic request, because this is precisely why people come to Vegas. They come to do things they would never do anywhere else. Many of the people who live here act in the same fashion. Many of these individuals have DUI's, if not multiple offenses.

I have lived in four major US cities. In addition, I have never seen so many people who blatantly run red lights. Not as the light changes, but pass right threw, because the 60 seconds of waiting are too much of a hassle. Therefore, I would be remiss to single out tourists. They are just the icing on a (expletive) cake.

I shouldn't bag on Vegas though. I graduated from UNLV in English Literature and found the university to be an excellent pillar of learning. It has great teachers that I feel are grossly misrepresented due to the location. I have good friends that are intelligent and a joy to be around. I have a decent job, and with the exception of the cost of energy, it is very affordable. I have met many tourists who are a joy to wait on. Nevertheless, in short, tourists make the Strip a place to avoid and when they sit at your table or bar, you cringe at the unavoidable truth that you have a 90% chance of regretting the experience.
