The "need to breed" needs to be snipped (spayed and neutered). Overpopulation contributes to resource depletion, overcrowding, pollution. Those problems leads to the sheep clamoring for more government, reducing freedom.

how we care for each other would be my number one but if you are looking for the pre-defined social issues of our time, it would depend on your frame of reference. I personally don't believe "world peace" will ever occur but we can make the situation better by continuing to strive for this goal. Obviously poverty and human conditions are top concerns but if you notice all three of these issues hark back to how we care for one another not just those in our socio-economic circle.
