If Every Person Used Energy Saving Light Bulbs, Do You Think Our Electricity Bills Would Reduce?

Not really -- the "energy saving" bulbs cost much more, which is an indication they require much more resources to make. And they don't last as long as touted -- in reality. So the cost is more. And they are environmentally unsafe (mercury) -- it costs money to process shit. So, net, they are a typical greenie "feel-good" but ineffective idea.

yeah of course that will have a huge effect in the long run.And the best part is that you save money and the world saves some tiny resources.

Sure it would reduce our bills by pennies. A bigger change would come from turning off the TV and the computer and the Xbox and the microwave and the radio, and turn down the heat. Actually you'd see a bigger impact by spending more time outside than in.

Obviously they would reduce, but most importantly is to develop a habit of turning off the lights when we don't really need them.

I think most people are using them by now anyway aren't they? Although having said that, they recently stopped selling the old 100W bulbs in the UK and there was a mad rush for them.

Maybe if people turned off their TVs at the mains overnight, rather than leaving them on standby that would save more leccy (A TV consumes around 25% of the power on standby as it does when it's turned on).

In the UK at least I suspect the power companies are effectively running a cartel, so they'll charge as much as they can get away with.

Of course it would but like most of the other replies indicated there are many other things that can be done that will make a huge effect as well. Most of them cos little to nothing. I have been able to put toghter some devices that will make a huge differance on your utility bill at www.sheamechanical.com but if you are not interested look up your a local energy management company that specializes in residential and light commercial properties and they will be able to help you with specific ideas that are designed for your area. Most people are wasting thousands of dollars a year and then we pay huge dollars to developers for these solar fields when we could do more if we would just all do our part.
