You get what you pay for. If you really want a web presence dont underdo, overdo, look for a provider with unlimited domains, you will have more and ftp,php as well as blog platforms. you may not be into all of this now but you will be soon. A good web host with all of this as well as good uptime and bandwidth can be as little as 6-10 bucks per month. If you dont need a lot of high end stuff I use just Host, sister company of host gator.

If you want a pure blog I use wordpress for free but you cannot use it as a sales or affiliate site.Wordpress is one of the most Google recognized blog sites on the web.

I agree with mattcarpet, for a small business you are probably better off paying for webspace. However, many individual internet plans include some "free" webspace. For instance Earthlink offers 10 GB per email address as part of an email hosting service. ATT and others offers similar plans.

If your actually looking for a hosting for a small business you shouldn't go with free hosting, but since it is what you asked for check out ecrater.com they offer a free store front, though you can't do too much in the way of customization.
