There are no physical descriptions of Jesus in the Bible. We are not told what he looked like for a very good reason. People would worship His image instead of Him. We are told he could pass unnoticed in a crowd and had no outstanding physical features. We can infer his appearance was similar to the other Jewish men of his time. He certainly could have had a beard but it is equally possible he did not.

Probably. In the Old Testament, which Jesus would have been very familiar with, Leviticus lists 600+ rules, two of which concern not cutting your hair and beard.

Because Leonardo de Vinci, whose self-portrait is the model for the depiction of "Jesus", had a beard.

This question is so irrelevant to ALL that Jesus did~ Who cares

if he was bald & painted his head Blue? LOL! As much as I'd like

to say I wish I could see what he actually looked like, I'm glad there are no actual pictures of him... So... that's about it outta me today, on this topic anyway! Jesus? Can You even believe what they're asking here? He's told me: "Yes, as WE are always

toooo curious, it is our nature"..............*DB*

There is more recent historical evidence to support that many Jewish men at the time of Jesus did not have beards. Apparently it had to do with relationship to sect, status in the community and a few other factors. As to whether or not Jesus actually had a beard cannot be determined simply because he was a radical, and basically condemned the Jewish sects of his day. It's possible he had no beard at all, although there is no way of knowing. It could also easily have been simply he had a beard at times, and not at others, depending on what suited him. He acted independently of his surroundings.

One, Jesus had no reason to care for the appearance of his hair. Second, it is an ancient Yogic technique to grow the hair long over the head, neck and face to energetically protect certain energy centers. The entire body is sacred, but the head and neck are the control centers, deemed very important. Also, another Yogic technique is to grow ones hair out very long and then consciously cut the hair as an energetic purification.

Jesus was, first and foremost,Jewish and the rules for beard cutting are detailed in Leviticus 19 & 21, if I'm not mistaken from my readings. I am neither Jewish nor Christian, but I am well read in both faiths. If Jesus was mourning humanity then he certainly would have had a beard and indeed long hair. At several points in the scriptures he is referred to as a "rabbi" which while it simply could have meant teacher, could also have meant he was literally a rabbi and would have been unallowed to "shave the corners of his beard" of course this may well have also implied that he was married as well...which disagrees with many peoples beliefs.

All the men in Israel had beards and they were told in the law how to keep it proper.

They were civilized people, who lieved in houses and had lot of food. Even if Jesus when he was 30, was wandering from town to town, he looked after himself.
