Have you ever been really sad at the end of a series of books?

There have been times in my life when I've read a series of books and at the end of the series I have been really sad - with both the Lord of the Rings series and the Harry Potter series it was very difficult to say 'goodbye' to my favorite characters. Have you experienced the same?

definitely! Harry Potter was torturous..my husband thought I was going to need a support group. I had spent so much time wondering and proposing how the story would end, it was almost like I lost a dear friend when it did.

I have, the Harry Potter was one of those. The characters had been there for so long, waiting for the next. In my younger days, the Taran Wanderer series left me feeling like that. It's sad to know that there will be no more stories with a favorite character, no more new visits to a favorite place. When Terry Pratchett stops writing Discworld stories, I'll be devastated.

Absolutely! It's a shame but just like anything else, I'd rather be left "wanting more" than to end with a poor mirror of what I've already read.

At the end of the Chronicles of Narnia I simply picked up the first book and read the whole series over again. At the end of The Circle trilogy by Ted Dekker I was kind of sad, though.

I felt *depressed* after the Harry Potter series ended! Also, I was pretty sad when I finished the final book in the Midnighters trilogy, but it was nothing like with HP.
