Try to get a referral from someone you trust who is satisfied with a particular lawyer's work, and by all means, look at the web. You cannot rely on legal referral services and State Bars or the BBB. Lawyers with money and clout can be sued repeatedly by clients and those services will fail to investigate or enter the grievances into their records.
