1) keep a list on frig and add as the week goes by
2) keep up with coupons in the paper that you commonly need
3) read the ads each week and use them
4) keep up with which stores let you use competitors ads- this will save time later
5) sign up for the grocery store programs to get you ongoing discounts- around her Kroger cards are common and get you discounts on gas
6) join online coupon sites- I am on one that loads the coupon onto my kroger card- so I never have to cut or print- very handy
7)do not go to the store hungry- ever
8) do not go to the store right after work or on Sat mornings- more crowded
9) go during the week mid morning if possible- the items about to expire are usually out and cheaper

1. Make two lists, one for your wants and one for your needs
2. Dream big on your lists, go from small purchases to grand ones. If a new car is one of your wants write it down. Seeing your wants and needs on paper keeps a reminder of what you really want
3. Only buy one item from either list per shopping trip, but make a goal to complete your needs list before you start purchasing from your wants list
4. Say NO to your visa! Only make a purchase off your list if you have excess money to purchase them with
5. Stay clear of shopping until you have the money saved
6. If you go shopping to help a friend find something constantly remind yourself that you are looking for your friends needs and not your own. Don't even look for yourself it will just lead to excess purchases because you see something new or find a sale.
7. A sale is only good if it is on the items you want or need. Sales are easy ways to find yourself buying things you do not necessarily need but buy because it is a deal. But is it a deal if you did not know you wanted it or needed it before you walked in the store? No! It is not.
8. All sale items purchased that are not on your list of needs and wants only hinder the length of time it takes you to save up for the items on your wants and needs list.
9. When you've saved up the money to purchase an item off your lists bring a friend shopping with you. They will keep you in check with purchasing the right brand. Sometimes spending more money means the item will last longer, sometimes it does not. A friend will help you organize your thoughts as to which brand to buy.
10. Remember to have patience. The best things in life are worth the wait, and nothing feels better than buying what you want or need straight up and not having to feel the effects on your Visa at the end of the month.
