How can I motivate myself to get in shape?

I'm training for the army and will be leaving at the end of december. For some reason I can't force myself to try to run everyday. Any suggestions?

How to Get Motivated to Get in Shape

You motivate yourself to get in shape by making the decision that you are going to do this and nothing is going to stop you.  To say that statement with determination and dedication you may need... keep reading →

First of all I want to thank you in advance for your service to our country. To prepare for boot camp, start with flexibility training and find an exercise activity that you enjoy and wont be a chore but will engage you mentally as well as physically. (I recommend kickboxing, but if you see my hub site you'll understand the bias) To overcome boredom on runs, find a running buddy and pick interesting beautiful trails, that helped me. In a pinch, jump rope is a great alternative to running it improves your cardio and you can do it to music. You will be carrying alot of gear so fill a backpack up with heavy items and practice hefting it around on long hikes.

I hope this helps. Good luck.

discipline your mind hun cause you sure gonna need be disciplined to make through boot camp.......Why not start now--put yourself in the positionyou will be in way before you get there. You gonna be called all type of names as well as have to wake up at hours you may not be used to. If someone anybody should be able to make your ass move ,it should be you!!! Cause trust and know you will be dancing to the beat of their drum when you get there.

what worked for me is buying clothes that doesn't fit. i hang them on my door so I can see them everyday and imagine how better i would look wearing them thus making me excited for my next workout, you also have to back this up with a diet and trainig plan, for some people, wanting is not enough, you have to build excitement in what you do in order for you so stick to a training regimen, excitement beats any motivational words out there bar none.

Don't run....get outside in your running gear then just start walking....think about what you are going to do in the Army and how you will feel in training...just keep walking....walk away the fear of running, which is basically linked to your fear of what lies ahead, and probably the fear of failing in any way. So...just walk until your mind and body themselves start to want to run when they realise there is nothing "out there" as such stopping you. Put some good feel good/motivational music on an ipod or mp3 player to help you start to move a little quicker...Eat and sleep right, do plenty of stretch exercises, clear out any other crap in your life - relationships/finances etc, and then just walk. Good luck, Dave PS - check out my hub (from-flab-to-fit) which also uses a little inspiration from the Paras...
