Just cut it up or cancel it. That's it - you no longer have to live with it. Alternatively, keep it somewhere and only use if for emergencies. (The problem I have with this is when I go to find it, I can't ever remember where on earth I kept it).

This is only a tip, but I have heard that freezing your cards in a block of ice is a good way to minimize their use. Often, when you are forced to think about your potential purchase while the block of ice thaws, you may realize it's just a silly want instead of a real need.
