It is not totally true to say that President Obama has not contributed anything in the effort of world peace and so he is not the right person to accept it. But in his nine months of Presidency what he has done is for achieving a sustainable peace and not a preparation for war. He has withdrawn US Force from Iraq, offered a respectable gesture which has improved the relation with Iran, he wanted a control in nuclear arsenals by coming to a negotiated term with Soviet Union, and he expressed his annoyance with explosion of nuclear missile not for an offensive against North Korea but to keep a control over North Korea with world pressure. These activities may not be sufficient enough to recognize for a Nobel Prize but no where he has done anything which might endanger the world peace. Now he will be under obligation to keep peace at all cost. Rather it is a very tactical move of the Nobel Authority to offer him the Nobel Prize to bring him under the shadow of peace. By accepting the peace prize President has committed to work for world peace during his time period.

President Obama deserves the Nobel Peace prize because he successfully campaigned and won the support of a majority of American voters for a platform of sharp change from the international policies of George Bush--from unilateralism, American exceptionalism, neoconnery, militarism and so forth to one of multilateralism, cooperation, support for international institutions and approaches to deal with world issues including climate change, terrorism, nuclear disarmament, Iraq, using diplomacy first and restraint in employing the military, dealing with international economic issues, and so forth. All Americans can be proud to have elected a president who has been honored with the Nobel Prize for Peace.

Yes, as he said in a press release 'the attention it will bring will be huge' so now he will have to deliver on the promises he made which won him the prize in the first place.
