You need to know what you want to prepare. You need to make sure you have all the ingredients you will need on hand. It is to time consuming to have to go the the grocery store once you start cooking. I was taught by my mother at a young age to cook. When I was 10 years old I was cooking bread. I'm 52 now and there are still times I follow a recipe. When it comes to cooking it's just like with anything else, practice, practice, practice. The more you do it, the better you get at it. I hope this helped.
