What is up with schools pushing meds for children with ADHD like candy?

I have a son with ADHD and the child study team from day one wanted him on meds which I knew he needed to be on. But it was a fight when they wanted to give him more then I wanted him on. I stand my grounds when it comes to my son and meds. They have not changed it because I won't let them but what is deal with them not wanting to deal with active kids. And why are so many parents allowing these people to turn their kids into zombies while they are in school how do they learn when they are on so many meds?

Personally, If you don't mind my saying so, I think it is the incompetency, on the part of the teacher. I have found that most teachers, whom were raised in strict households and/or were only children, they lose thier minds when a child acts out a little bit.

I have two nephews, whom were diagnosed with A.D.H.D disorders. They had teachers whom were impatient, incompetent and basically being a witch. She was thrown in a crowded room with thirty screaming children and became overwhelmed, and wanted to sedate the kids.

These two nephews were screened, in upwards of nine times each, by the family doctor and the psychologist. Both stated that there were no reasons to increase medications, but yet the teacher kept screaming. Finally, I suppose the teacher convienced the school nurse to give the kids more meds. By the time the kids came home, they were no more than "Shells" of children.

After a formal complaint was made to the School Board and we had all of the kid's doctors show up, they moved the kids to different rooms, with a teacher whom had her own kids. She was patient with the boys, and we had no more problems.

I heard later that, the same teacher, whom had made such a fuss about my nephews, was up to her neck in kids. She began her usual claims of unruly kids needing medication. this lady went so far as to call Child Services, against the parents, claiming they were neglecting the children. Rumor has it, that she was finally terminated.

It is easier for the teachers, and everyone else involved at the school, to medicate and not deal with the problems. I have a blog on here about the schhol denying my ADHD son school services. It is a horrible system we are putting our kids thru- but do we have a choice?? We as parents HAVE to be advocates for our kids and fight for what we know is right. We know our kids better than anyone else, we know when the meds are right and when they arent. Mine is medicated and it is a constant battle of keeping the combination correct, without overmedicating him. I have found lots of resources and website to help with many issues and encourage everyone to do the same. But my biggest advice is KNOW your rights and read your GUT feeling!!

Ok I didnt not understand that ! Every child is talented in there on why but over doing it with the meds will hold that back for anyone to see.
