NoteBook vs NetBook
I'm on a personnal vendetta here, i'd like buy a small laptop computer, as i really want portability, as nowadays i just browse the web, and write stuff, don't play heavy games, so no need for a desktop. I've been reading a lot on netbooks, but i'm a bit scared of the lack of cpu power, is the atom processor really that bad ? So i'm just looking for hubbers feedback regarding their netbooks, what are the main downsides that you weren't quite aware when you bought them, are they good enough to do some photoshoping or am i asking too much for the little things ? Thank you for the input.

There's a lot of things that you need to consider before deciding to get a laptop or netbook. Netbooks are not design to handle multitasking. Also, it has no cd drive which means it's not easy to install softwares to add-on, you cannot watch DVD movies. Screen size is a little smaller though there's a new one that came out recently, Asus Eee PC 1101HA which comes in 11.6" display and the Lenovo which is 12". Keyboard is a little smaller. Netbooks battery life longer than a standard laptop. Some can go up to 11 Hrs of unplugged computing.
With laptop/notebook, you can pretty much do more things, but of course it's more pricey...check my hub for my netbook review.

Need not worry about cpu power as you need to just browse, no heavy games to play. Atom processor is fine to go along with your light works. Netbooks are entirely different breed, they are cheap, portable web browsers.
A Netbook is a light mobile computing device that allows you to process information, access the Internet, and that does not store a bundle of bloated programs or data.
Netbook, a smaller variant of notebook, 1st poineered by Asus with their release of Asus Eee PC 700,and now laptop companies such as Acer and MSI released their own netbooks (Acer aspire one and MSI wind respectively), have :
* Screen size : 12 Inch max
* Processor : VIA C7 1.2GHz, Intel Atom N270 1.6GHz or AMD Geode 800MHz
* Graphics : Integrated Graphic Card, mostly Intel GMA 900 or 950
* Weight : 1.1kg and below

Netbook is all that people ever wanted as far as "finally buying a computer" goes. Computer companies, like the oil industry, banked on the consumer's general ignorance of available options and sold millions of needless "systems", all overloaded and overpriced to the growing millions of innocent consumers who were dragged onto the internet by their wallets, low interest loans and promotions in order to buy up those overloaded edsels that made Bill Gates the richest person on earth and computer vendors rich. The netbook would have displaced all of the "snake oil company" sellers if they had hit the market 3 deacdes ago. With USB sticks and external harddrives, netbooks can be anything you want. Store any programs you want on a stick and plug it into ur netbook. So the ideal setup is a netbook with a good processor, such as the duo processor which I have in my Dell Inspiron. Need a cd/dvd burner? or anything else for that matter, such as word processor or otherwise? Plug it into your USB port on your netbook. So, buy the "smartcar" with an efficient and powerful engine, and build your own cadillac. Well...ok what ever kind of car you like...corvette, rabbit? :)

Notebooks are larger and more cumbersome, netbooks are about 3 pounds. Although they don't have ALL the features a notebook or laptop does, they are very handy little devices. I just published a Squidoo about a Netbook here:

I hope this helps you.
