Why are designers making high-heels so high we cannot walk in them?

This season I am seeing in almost every shoe-store in Australia the kind of high-heels I'd love to wear, if only they weren't too high! I love my heels, but why oh why are they making them so high that I'd be to scared to try to walk in them?

Why are you being so foolish as to buy shoes that you can't walk in?

Relache hit it dead on. They make them, because people buy them . If people only bought the shoes that were comfortable, the designers would have to change their designs. I suppose if you're going to get caught up in keeping up with fashion, you have to sacrifice comfort.

I have to go along with the answer about satisfying the market. I was not aware until recently, however, that cosmetic foot surgery to narrow feet by shaving bones or make them smaller by shortening toes is on the rise - even in tough economic times. Wearing high heels is one thing but this is something else. As a guy I must be honest and admit that high heels are sexy looking but I'd rather they went away if this is the cost.

Here's an article I wrote about the cosmetic foot surgery phenomenon. http://ezinearticles.com/?High-Heel-Health-Hijinks

Perhaps is the lack of a good marketing research. If the designers were to research a good sample of their target audience, they would be astonished to find out that what they offer and what most women really want is almost entirely opposite.

I for one, would like classic comfortable shoes, not too high, not too low, but very, very elegant. And since we are on the subject, I would also like to see designers present a line of elegant, affordable, and classic business attires as well as the famous little black dress, but all of this for my body frame, not for a body frame that is all bones and with a perfect height. I am petite, heavy set and just cannot find a business atttire that fits me, and that flatters my body shape. Designers' pieces are too long and too tight for me, thus an elegant suite looks too long and too wide for my body frame, or it looks as if my little sister let me borrow it.

A good marketing research would project realistic expectations from any given target audience.
