What if God is real?
What if you live your whole life helping others and doing good? Bringing joy and happiness to those less fortunate. What have you lost? On the other hand what if you live you whole life for your own purposes, never helping anyone, spending everything you have and are on things you can not take with you when you leave this earth? And then . . . find out that God is real? There are no unbelivers down there! Just what if?

Well I'd either say 'Oops Sorry' or hope that if there is a God that he forgives everyone - and isn't the type of God who only rewards people who beleived!

What if you live a life devoted to your god, praying, sacrificing and punishing infidels and then found out that the scientologists were right? what if they found out the Jews were right, or what if the Buddhists got it right, or the Mormons, or the Catholics or the great purple octopus? What if the best you could do is to try and leave this earth a tiny bit better than you found it and not obsess about what happens when you are gone?

This question is little more than a very thinly veiled Pascal's Wager. The key mistake you are making is that you are assuming that there is only one possible God. I could ask you the same question: what if you face the FSM when you die? What would you say if you died and faced Odin, Thor, Vishnu, or Ra? Also, if someone worships a god only because they are hedging their bets, then who is to say that the god won't see through that and then punish them?

Judah's Daughter says
Those who don't believe in God are guilty of rejecting God, for whether or not they have heard about Him, they know about Him instinctively, per the Word of God. There will be "no excuse" when they stand before the throne:
Matthew 12:30 "He who is not with Me is against Me."
John 15:22 "If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not have sin, but now they have no excuse for their sin."
Romans 1:20 "For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse."
Revelation 12:20 & 30 "And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and books were opened; and another book was opened, which is the book of life; and the dead were judged from the things which were written in the books, according to their deeds...And if anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire."

BL - it's good to question. Reading the feedback that you received I just had to jump in. God is real. The words that have been used to describe God and the hereafter through the ages are words that are limited by our human forms, they are however the best that our poor limited language can do. God understands. God is intrinsically embedded in each of us so to not believe in God is a choice, not a failure to recognize. To chose to behave in a way that goes against God’s plans by living a life of self service is in the eye of the beholder – only God knows what is in someone’s heart. I believe our role is to love without judgment, pray for those who need extra help and do for those who cannot do for themselves. Someone else may have a different view – we are all on our separate journeys – God has it under control…so to your “what if”, I have no idea, but because I completely trust God, I leave it in God’s hands, freeing up my hands to do what I can do in my little corner of life.

The what if senario can only be played out after your dead, can it be realized.
So, I would have to say, since I am dead, there's no reason to worry about anything else.
I am dead. There is no more life.
Born Again 05 says
God is real. Unfortunately for those who don't believe in the only begotten Son of the Father, Jesus Christ, and His finished work on the cross, there will not be any second chance once they have taken their last breath. It is appointed unto man to die once, then the Judgement.
HOOWANTSTONO says
Well its a better insurance policy. If there was no God then we will be exactly the same as anyone else. But if there is God, then all of those that dont believe, are in real trouble.
So believing in Jesus Christ as God is a better philosophy, and way of life than viser versa.
