Why does most immigrants hate America yet they don't want to go back to their own country?

All I hear from immigrants today is America is crap this, America is crap that and nothing good comes out of America. then why do they still live here if they have better things where they came from?

Maybe the idea of the "American Dream" doesn't live up to their lofty expectations. The grass might be greener in some ways, but immigrants to this and any country have moved away from their culture, their families, and a lot of other comforts they may have taken for granted. America is a beautiful place with a lot of opportunity. That doesn't make it perfect or immune to mood swings, economic downturns, and general disdain for 'the way things are.'

If this is the case, I'd also say that unhappiness can come from the old MO "you don't know what you've got until it's gone." We have a tendency to not realize how great things are until we leave and find out how equally un-great they can be. In my experience as a human, the little things count for a lot when it comes to happiness and satisfaction.

There are some interesting dynamics going on here. First, ask yourself if you’ve never thought the food was a bit poor on holiday. It’s part of human nature to complain about your environment, whether it’s where you were born or where you currently reside.

There’s also the question of ownership. If you feel you own your country and anyone from outside your borders is your guest, then to hear these guests complaining would appear disrespectful. If you feel more like a participant in the development your country, you’re more likely to view criticism from any source more positively.

There’s also the possibility that the memory of an immigrants former home might be so horrible that they subconsciously displace it, choosing to participate in their current environment and assimilate with the indigenous population who almost invariably complain about where they live too.

You are talking to the wrong immigrants. All are here of their own free will. We don't forcibly bring them here anymore and haven't for quite some time.

That said, many of today's immigrants are employed in day labor and construction. This area has been extremely hard-hit in the downturn, and everyone in the construction industry has suffered greatly.

They come here because they want to escape the poverty, totalitarianism, corruption and cultural and religious wackiness of their native countries. But they want to bring their culture of poverty, totalitarianism, corruption and cultural and religious wackiness with them. When they find that America doesn't conform to their cultural and religious wacko ideals, they get pissed. But they still have a better life here, so they don't want to leave.

All they have to do is wait. America is fast declining to their standards, so soon they will feel right at home.

I'm talking about the same immigrants, the ones that came here on their own free will, maybe I am wrong but it just seems that every single immigrant I encounter have nothing but bad things to say about this country. i know we have our issues but it can't be much worse than the issues where some of these immigrants came from. This is not a hate question by the way, I'm just really curious.

Not all immigrants receive kisses and welcoming faces in America, so when they tell their own story it begets negativity, moreover some immigrants could be willing to go back case we dunno

I believe the expectations of the united state are high for those coming from other countries, and although their countries are worse in some respects they hold our country to a high standard which I don’t believe Americans hold their own country to that same standard. The result is a lot of disappointed immigrants who know they have it better here, just not as well as they were sold. We see our country with no fault and although we have a lot of good going for us, we have yet to back up all of the words and ideas we were founded on. We are constantly moving towards that, but not there yet. We are also not too kind to immigrants as a country, however 99% of Americans are immigrants or decedents of immigrants and we forget that or don’t realize that. And when people talk about immigrants nine times out of ten they are talking about Latin Americans, who may have a little resentment to this country because this land was once their land and they were driven down to South American. The difference between a Native American and a Latin American is language. I am not saying we need to give the country back, but we need to be more understanding of the issues immigrants have and work with them with in the rules to include them in our society. Part of the reason our country has done so well is because of our diversity, we have the best of everyone in this world we need to continue to build on that.
