No, it was finally announced yesterday on the news that the whole thing was a hoax made up by the parents in order to get publicity and be invited onto shows.
The poor baloon boy himself even ending up giving away the whole game when, while being interviewed, he accidentally let it slip that they did it for the show!
Apparently the parents of the baloon boy are in real trouble now and could possibly face a prison sentence of about 6 years.
I personally think that they were very foolish to try on a stunt like this and that there are better and more honest ways of making money without stooping to these kind of fake theatricals.
