Sometimes they do, knowing that they are at least cute enough to get a regular date; sometimes they don't see the beauty that someone else sees because what they may not like about themselves, someone else does.

If they weren't, they would never expend so much time and effort upon themselves to be beautiful according to societal standards.
However, the question you ask is strictly opinion based. It has many factors that go into it. Such as background, parents, childhood experiences (school, neighborhood, etc.), and people who have had a major influence on their lives.
