I dated the lead singer of a Rock Band for several years, and they were some of the most fun years of my life! It was great for my social life - Whenever he was performing we'd meet people, have private parties with other Musicians back stage, and there would be glamour and music, dancing, and late night partying and a lot of free perks. He didn't drink or do drugs, he was all about song-writing, recording, performing and promoting. The lifestyle I had with him was by no means 'hard work', during the day time throughout the week we did some promotions for his band, but in all honesty, spent much of most days relaxing on the beach, going out for lunch and dinners. He had occasional TV appearances and interviews. There was a lot of travel adventures too. From what I saw it's everything it's cracked up to be!

I'd say I'm surprised about what "stricktlydating" had to say. I'm truly happy that she had a great experience with her boyfriend. I've always found the "touring rock life style" to be a harder life. I guess it really depends on how you are wired. Some people can handle living on a bus and traveling everywhere, and some people can only handle playing locally and keeping you day job.

Most of the things you see on stage are typically a pre-set act (but not always). A touring rock band is a full time job and if you were to follow one, you'd probably see the same act every night with the same moves. Now I'm only speaking from my experience. Some people have it great and some people don't. As I said before, its really up to how you are wired.
