How do I know when I need to change my tyres?

I have no idea when to change the tyres on my car. Can someone help?

Tires have "wear bands" built into them.. as your tread wears down you'll see this band horizontally across your tire. This means the tread is gone and it's no longer safe to drive on the tires.

I can recommend you visit and online site called TireRack.com if you want to learn a lot about Tire codes.

Instead of changing tires, make sure that you rotate your tires every time you get your oil changed. this will help prolong the life of your tire.

A quick way to check your tires to see if you have enough tread is get a penny, and place it upside down (with Lincoln's head facing down) in one of the grooves. if you can see the top of the head its time to get new tires.
