My parents did not have much money when we were growing up. One christmas my mother gave us knitted animals that she had made and stuffed herself for our main gifts.
I got a mother kangaroo with a small baby that could be played with seperately or kept in her mother's pouch. I played with that kangaroo for hours on end - I just loved it. Of course, part of the reason that I loved it so was because my mother had made it especially for me.
I am 56 years old now and I still have fond memories of my mother and baby kangaroo. In my mind, you can't go wrong with knitted animals.
