What is the best thing to get a 5 year old for Christmas?

5 year olds are great as they like so many things and are becoming independent enough to do many things for themselves. If you'd like a toy that's educational and fun I'd suggest Cool School by Fisher Price. It hooks to your computer thru the standard usp port and prevents kids from accidentally damaging something on your computer. The initial set comes with 1 cd but more themed ones (Sponge Bob, Scooby Doo, Dora, etc.) can be purchased. Each has lots of activities from simple math, letters, creative art and music. We purchased this last year at Christmas and she's still playing with it almost every day. Needless to say, I'm buying a new cd (Sponge Bob here we come!) for Christmas this year.

Any of the learning toys made by Leap Frog are excellent. Books and puzzles are also great gifts.
