Most fakes don't bother to put a liner, and if they do its very low quality...also look at stitching.

Generally you can tell because the coach won't really know what he/she is doing. Try asking a technical question about the sport and see if they get that "deer in the headlights" look in their eyes.
It is best if you ask a question you already know the answer to so you can tell if the "coach" is B.S.ing.
For example:
say you are concerned you have a fake gymnastics coach. Ask them if a front aerial uses a backward arm circle. If he/she says yes or, "that's really a judgement call" or "what feels more natural" then you know he/she is a fake coach because it well known among real coaches that it uses a foreward arm circle, which does not feel natural at all, but is a russian flip and therefore has the tell tale foreward arm swing.
Of course, there are also the really cheap fake coaches, you can tell because they are not real people, and therefore won't give you any answer when you ask them a question because they are not... alive... However those models are not in use much anymore because they are so easy to spot.
Incidentally, you can also tell a fake coach because they will refuse to spot you (owing to the fact that they do not know how). Once again, the cheaper fake coaches will fail to spot you because they are not real and therefore cannot move to spot you...
Hope that helps!
