In a restaurant dinner for two, is it more romantic to sit side by side or face to face? Why?

I say face to face. It's more personable & you can communicate better. You can always play footsie under the table.

Side by side is where I like to sit, but actually it's more romantic to sit face to face. I think so because each can see into the eyes, the very soul, of his/her partner.

I always sit side by side during a romantic dinner, and I will change the restaurant's seating arrangement to make it this way, because I want to sit and kiss and cuddle my partner during our romantic dinner - it's much more intimate than holding hands across the table if you're seated that way.

I a restaurant, you should face your dinner partner for ease in exchanging conversation.

i would say face to face because it is more natural when you are having a conversation at dinner. Also, sometimes it can be a little awkward if one person is left handed and one person is right handed and you are trying to eat dinner side by side. Nothing kills romance like worrying that you're going to elbow your partner in the side when trying to use your knife at dinner.

You can research the expert opinions, but what is really most important is what the two people on the romantic dinner date think! On first dates, I think it's better to sit face-to-face so you can see your date's face, expressions and nonverbal communication. I wouldn't feel very comfortable sitting beside someone I didn't know well. Later on, in a close relationship, it's much more romantic to sit next to each other. Better for hand-holding and maybe a little kiss between bites!

Actually it depends upon the two out to dinner. There's a plus to sitting next to one another - so one can touch the other, but then again, sitting across from one another, the other can communication - only with words, but body language.

For me, I like to do both at different times.
