How do you deal with people who complain about everything?

If you're serving them in a restaurant, a little extra pampering may be just what they need - they want to feel special. It used to work well for me when I was a waitress.
On the other hand, if it's just someones general negativity you're dealing with - the best way is not to buy into their mood.
Simply think to yourself 'how fascinating that someone thinks differently to me'.

The person who complains a lot may not realize how negative they appear to others, they may think that their complaints make them seem more sophisticated, or they may simply be poor conservationists. Two tactics might work to eliminate unnecessary complaints. Ask the person to go into further detail regarding their complaint, and they may be persuaded to recognize that their criticism is groundless. Or you could simply ignore it.
