You've got to be really careful on this one....especially if you are the woman and you are here in the states. Why? Because I've seen alot and I mean ALOT of crime stories where the women are tricked into believing this person is sincere, loving and all they could ever dream of(remember: if it's too good to be true...IT ALWAYS IS). Once the dude gets over here, inevitably the woman is duped into giving up all of her money, possessions, etc.
However, having said that.....if it's legit....then what difference does it make what others think.
