I would advise otherwise, Windows 7 here it would be almost pointless. Windows 7 has more support, stability and ease of use than Vista does. Vista is soon going to be out dated soon as Windows 7 launches off. Vista is also very over rated in that it just looks visually appealing to the eye but can be rather tricky with errors and unexplained crashes.
Try to convince her of the new Windows 7 and look up the benefits of it and show her it. Trust me its worth it.
To sum up the answer I think keep the "XP" (Assuming thats what you have) and wait it out for Windows 7 (Which I think is out now). Good luck with this.
